d line's transition to comfort products is about creating opportunities for people, and as with many of the products we design, our work into this important area started with a need. When we were contacted by the Handicaporganisationeres Hus to create universal architectural brackets for the world's most accessible office building, the organisation's inspiring thinking about democratizing everyday life immediately became part of d line's thinking. We realized that when 10 percent of the Western population suffers from a disability, and when the global population is living longer than ever, our energy could be invested in products that, while visually appealing, could make life easier and better for all. The range relieves both the disabled community and helps the elderly to remain in their homes in a way that is discreet and understated. Like our other product categories, our comfort products combine aesthetics and functionality. Extensive user testing has shown a great need for products in this category that are aesthetically pleasing, so we designed them with features such as user-friendly operation; different color options that create easy recognition for the visually impaired; and that they are warm to the touch to avoid causing pain to arthritis sufferers. We started by making a comfort door handle, and since then we have developed folding seats and both a static and a foldable support handle.
